HeadNotes:
We all got up after Dr. Chandler told us to get up after her third time saying it. It was a bit strange to go up to people in class and talk about random things. The first person that approached me, with limited space was Cristina, who was in my previous class from last semester. I knew who she was, but didn't know who she really is. She noticed that we both had the same color nail polish which was pink. We spoke about majors and how I'm an English-Writing option major and she is an Early Child Education as English being her concentration area. I noticed her black sweater and her earnings because it was cool. Then Emily comes and joins our group, she is wearing a pink sweater. She begins by telling us how she did her first lesson in her Junior field and how she had a dream about it the night before, having a horrible experience, but in the end it turned out to be a good day. Then the room got loud and we begin to hear others talking about different things, such as traveling, siblings, and favorite places. Then Dr. Chandler kept switching us, which was when Marc came into the group and began talking to Cristina. I noticed his blue eyes and that he must be a fan of New Jersey devils ( I think).
I was then introduced to Megan and Courtney, both were in the same class just like Cristina, we were all in Connor's class last semester. I noticed Courtney's tattoos, one on her back and one on her foot, I began instantly asking if out of her two tattoos which one hurt the most. Since Dr. Chandler kept saying switch it up so we won't stay comfortable in our own little groups, I went to where Debra was. We are going to graduate soon, she doesn't live far from my hometown and her father actually owns a body shop in my town of hillside.
Things I remember later:
I remember that the volume of the room went from being normal to really loud. I remember Dr. Chandler shouting for us to move around, to meet new people and to not stay in the same spot. People were carrying notebooks to jot down their observations, while others used their cell phones. I heard people asking about favorite places such as England to how long have you been wearing glasses. People wearing variety of colors, some stayed in the same spot while others moved around and walked up to others. Everyone seemed to be in their own little groups, not many people felt comfortable to move around and go up to classmates and talk about things. In some groups the conversations were serious while others were constantly laughing. There was a range in language as well as how high tone of voices got.
Observations About What Happened:
Space became an issue, there was limited space and people aren't comfortable having people in their personal space. In the beginning it seemed like no one wanted to approach each other, either because they were feeling uncomfortable or they didn't know what to say. Either way, it was a bit awkward. Everyone is of different age, people were in mini groups didn't expand to big groups. Facial features, accessories, postures, facial expressions, eye contact (some looked into your eyes and others didn't). People have different hobbies, many have the same majors and all can't wait to graduate. Even though at first it was a bit awkward, towards the end it became fine, friendly and in a way comfortable. Everyone in a way got to know the others just by the way the conversation went.
